MAMACINA

Mamacina exudes an undeniably cool vibe once you enter its vicinity. Permeated by flashes of hazy neon lights and tastefully furnished with Asian-inspired deco, it is nonetheless an establishment of modern times, masterfully blending Eastern and Western influences. As such, it is no surprise that its menu is an eclectic mix of dishes from all over the world.

If you’re looking to satiate your hunger pangs before the main entrees, Mamacina offers a wide range of snacks for you to choose from. Look out especially for their Truffle Fries (RM22), your typical french fries served with a not-so-typical truffle aioli; Charred Baby Corn (RM12), topped with parmesan cheese and arranged atop a mixed herbs curry base; and Hot Wings (RM23), crispy fried wings drizzled with a homemade hot sauce.

The holy trinity (clockwise from top left: Truffle Fries; Charred Baby Corn; Hot Wings) Otherwise, you can always share the Patty Melt (RM38) with your friends. Australian beef patties, aged cheddar and caramelised onions are tightly wedged between slices of pan-fried bread, completed with a special sauce that balances the heaviness of the dish.

Patty Melt: Sauce so thicc it’s oozing

Now comes the main highlight of the night: dinner. If you’re craving for something rich and unique, don’t hesitate to go for their signature Oxtail Bakar (RM59). The oxtails are stout and cider-braised for 6 hours, ensuring that every bit of the marinade sinks deep into the meat, which oozes with flavour with every bite.

If you’re craving something a little lighter, their Bacon Egg and Cheese Fried Rice (RM20) is a simple yet wholesome dish that provides a unique twist to our local fried rice. Beef bacon, truffle mushrooms, egg are practically melded into the rice, and the generous topping of parmesan shavings leaves you absolutely tantalised.

Not ready to stuff yourself silly with oxtails, while wanting something with a little more oomph than fried rice? Mama’s Curry (RM23) is the perfect blend of Malaysian spices, served alongside warm tortillas that nicely complement the punchy curry. Definitely a dish you’d believe to have come straight out of your mother’s kitchen.

However, don’t forget that dinner at Mamacina’s is incomplete without a wash of their cocktails. The Pineapple Expresso (RM40), Pomelo Anderson (RM40), Gula Melaka Old-Fashioned (RM28), Lychee Love (RM38) and the ultimate house special Mamacina Addiction (RM38) are all local-inspired drinks that instantly made us go, “Malaysia Boleh!”. Meanwhile, drinks for the quirky include the cheekily-named Netflix and Chill (RM38), strangely addictive and bingeable with its popcorn taste; as well as the Uji Matcha (RM38), a matcha-based cocktail.
