Prep These 3 Awesome Chinese New Year Snacks with an Air Fryer

We’ve just made New Year resolutions to maintain a healthier lifestyle and already Chinese New Year feastings are lurking around the corner.



Luckily for you, we’ve got three wonderful Chinese New Year snacks you can prepare with an air fryer as a healthier alternative!

1. Air-Fried Crab Stick Snack (1 Tub)



Ingredients

· 250g crab stick (1 packet)

· 1 tablespoon oil

· ½ teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper (optional)

· 1 tablespoon truffle oil (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C

2. Shred the crab stick into strips based on your liking. (Recommended: about 3mm to 5mm in width per strip)

3. Drizzle a tablespoon of oil and ½ teaspoon black pepper over the crab stick. (Ensure all the shredded crab sticks have been evenly coated)

4. Divide the crab stick into 3 to 4 batches for air frying

5. Place the batches of crab stick into the air fry for 8 mins at a time at 180°C or until golden brown (To ensure even cooking, pop the air fryer basket out at the 4-minute mark and give the basket a gentle shake)

6. Finally, once all batches are completed, drizzle one tablespoon of truffle oil and shake till all the fried crab sticks have been evenly coated (optional)

7. Cool and store in an airtight container

Note: Be sure to consume within 7 days to avoid the oil from going rancid.



2. Crispy Seaweed




Ingredients (1 Tub)

· 12 pieces spring roll pastry

· 12 pieces seasoned seaweed

· 1 egg white

· 2 tablespoon oil for brushing

Instructions

1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C

2. Brush the seasoned seaweed with some egg white and stick the seaweed to the popiah skin.

3. Brush the front & back of the seaweed popiah with oil

4. Cut each piece into 9 smaller pieces

5. Place the cut pieces into the air fryer basket without any overlaps (avoid placing them too closely together as well. Depending on your air fryer size, you may need to do several batches)

6. Air fry for 3 minutes and repeat until all are fried

7. Cool and store in an airtight container



3. Shoestring Yam Fries



Ingredients

· 250g Yam - cut into very thin strips

· 2 tablespoon oil

Truffle Flavouring (Optional)

· 1 tablespoon truffle oil

· ½ teaspoon truffle salt or salt

· *Use salt only if prefer the original flavour

Instructions

1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C

2. Remove the skin and slice the yam into thin strips

3. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of oil over the yam and ensure the yam strips are evenly coated

4. Air fry for 8 mins or until golden brown at 180°C (To ensure even cooking, pop the air fryer basket out at the 4-minute mark and give the basket a gentle shake)

5. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you are advised to divide the yam strips into several batches for frying to avoid overcrowding.

6. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of truffle oil and sprinkle truffle salt over the yam fries and toss till evenly coated (optional)

7. Cool and store in an airtight container
